Sunshine Cleaning Systems provided Free disinfecting services for all classrooms

(South Florida) – Thanks to Shine with a Purpose, a partnership between United Way of Broward County and Oakland Park-based Sunshine Cleaning Systems, the classrooms at Jack & Jill Center in Fort Lauderdale were disinfected just in time for the first day of school.

Jack & Jill Center is welcoming for the first time students, kindergarten through fifth grade, to the new 24,000 square-foot Madelaine Halmos Academy. The existing facility serves children, ages six weeks through preschool, as part of is early learning program.

The classrooms were treated with Sunshine’s signature Hygienic Clean™, a treatment that disinfects, sanitizes and deodorizes high touch areas and surfaces and is 99.999 percent effective against a variety of bacteria and viruses, including MRSA/COVID-19.

Sunshine, a woman-owned regional janitorial services company, recently introduced the Shine with a Purpose initiative as part of its 45th anniversary. According to Florida Operation Manager Derek Auckland, the program will continue as an on-going community effort. “This important community project is a perfect way for us to celebrate our 45th Anniversary,” he said, “but, most importantly, it’s our way to help charities in our own backyard. What a thrill it was to know we played a part in ensuring Jack & Jill Center students were able to start their school year in a clean and safe environment.”

Principal Petrina Johnson was grateful for the gift. “Our teachers and staff have been working so hard preparing for our students,” she said. “This extra touch from Sunshine is just icing on the cake as kids learn in our beautiful new classrooms.”
