Newest Contract with Jacksonville Airport Signals Growth in Area
By Mike Woodson, CBSE, Director of Sales and Quality Control/Assurance
Sunshine Cleaning Systems, LLC. has been serving the Jacksonville, Florida area since 2010 when we began pressure cleaning garages and sidewalks for Baptist Health. More recently, we secured a new five-year contract with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.
Bryce Contreas was brought on board as Project Manager to oversee this customer and he wasted no time in getting started, hiring a team of nearly one dozen team members to tackle this 24/7/365 responsibility. Our shifts start at 5 a.m. and end at midnight, covering 19 hours of nonstop cleaning every day.
Adding to our team for this new customer is a local certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) partner. At least three staff members are onsite at any one time. Our staff members work round the clock to ensure debris is removed throughout a six-level garage, a five-level garage as well as eight surface parking spaces, totally nearly 10,000 spots.
We work to clean, sweep, remove trash, take down cobwebs, even ensure surrounding landscaping is policed and free of debris. We clean shuttle stops, elevators, every corner and crevasse of these areas. From vacuuming mats, cleaning windows and wiping off railings to removing gum, pet waste or other nasty spills, the Sunshine crew is working hard every day to ensure airport visitors and workers enjoy brighter days.
In addition to the complex scheduling to make sure all duties are handled every day, we use the most sophisticated cleaning equipment available to care for this important area of the airport. For example, the Tennant T7 Ride on a 16-inch auto-scrubber is used to protect the areas that have a specialized coating. A larger Tennant 6600 Sweeper is used to get around difficult to reach curbing. Larger cleaning jobs are carefully scheduled to avoid disrupting traffic during busy flight times.
The Jacksonville Aviation Authority owns and manages the Jacksonville Airport System, which serves the commercial, business and recreational aviation needs of the City of Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
The Jacksonville Airport System includes the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport (CRG), Herlong Recreational Airport (HEG) and Cecil Airport (VQQ). Nearly six million travelers go through Jacksonville each year, many visiting the area’s famous golf courses or vacation destinations such as Amelia Island, St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra.
We look forward to continuing to grow our business in this thriving Florida community.
