Sunshine Cleaning Systems Celebrates 45th Anniversary by Launching Shine with a Purpose

Free Janitorial Services Donated to United Way of Broward Charities

By Derek Auckland

As part of our 45th anniversary celebration, we are proud to have launched a unique partnership with United Way of Broward County called Shine with a Purpose. So far we have provided free janitorial cleaning and disinfecting services to three local non profit organizations.

In August, our team disinfected and cleaned the Light of the World, a Broward County clinic that offers free medical care to uninsured individuals. Then, just before school began at Jack and Jill Center in Fort Lauderdale, we disinfected their entire new 24,000-square-foot Madelaine Halmos Academy, which houses students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. We also serviced the existing facility, which serves children, ages six weeks through preschool, as part of is early learning program.

In October, we disinfected the third charity to benefit from Shine with a Purpose, FLITE (Fort Lauderdale Independence and Training) Center, a centralized facility in Broward County for dependent youth to learn the skills needed for independent living. FLITE Center currently serves more than 2,000 youth aging out of foster care, chronically homeless youth, human trafficking survivors and LGBTQ+ youth. The FLITE vision is that no youth travels the road to adulthood alone.

Shine with a Purpose will continue monthly through the end of year, as we work with United Way to identify charitable organizations in our community that can benefit from the program.

All Shine with a Purpose beneficiaries’ facilities were treated with Sunshine’s signature Hygienic Clean™, a treatment that disinfects, sanitizes and deodorizes high touch areas and surfaces and is 99.999 percent effective against a variety of bacteria and viruses, including MRSA/COVID-19.

We are especially proud of the feedback we’ve received about Shine with a Purpose:

“We work hard every day to ensure our facilities are germ-free for our patients. This invaluable gift is a welcome contribution to our cleaning efforts. We appreciate Sunshine’s professional support.”

  • Sandy Lozano Barry, Executive Director of the Light of the World Clinic

“This gift from Sunshine is greatly appreciated and well-timed as we work to open our new and safe elementary school – the Madelaine Halmos Academy.”

  • Heather Siskind, Chief Executive Officer of Jack and Jill Center

“We are truly grateful to Sunshine Cleaning Systems and their support of FLITE Center’s youth, staff and families in ensuring the safety of our community.”

  • Ayesha Wiliams, Director of Health and Wellness at FLITE Center

“We are excited to partner with Sunshine Cleaning Systems on their new initiative (Shine with a Purpose) to ensure our community stays safe and healthy. Providing charities with free disinfecting services for their facilities is a win-win for all involved.”

  • Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County.

Shine with a Purpose is part of Sunshine’s dedication to giving back to the communities where our employees and customers live and work.
