Sunshine Cleaning Systems Management Team Adopts a Dune in Lauderale-by-the-Sea

(Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida) – The Sunshine Cleaning Systems management team recently traded in their regular work clothes for garden gloves and spades for a four-hour beach restoration project led by the Youth Environmental Alliance (YEA). This sweat equity, together with a cash donation of $1,500, was invested in hands-on activities to help protect the delicate ecosystems along the beach. The group planted valuable sea oat plants, a vital vegetation that helps to preserve sand dune areas, and cleaned up the areas around the dunes.

YEA was founded in 2005 to provide programs that involve youth, companies and the community in preserving and protecting the local community’s unique ecosystems and wildlife.

Donated funds are used to underwrite programs that educate youth to become environmental stewards as well as projects — such as the Sunshine adopt a dune restoration project — that support critical habitat,

According to the organization’s Executive Director Kristin Hoss, these corporate volunteerism programs have been responsible for the planting of more than six acres of sea oats along our community’s shorelines.

“We are grateful that the Sunshine team was willing to donate their time, treasures and talents to help YEA, so that together we can protect our precious shoreline,” she said.

“Giving back to our community is at the core of our culture at Sunshine,” said Sunshine President and CEO Laura Coenen. “We were thrilled to be a part of a program that helps to protect our environment and enhance the community where our company began more than 45 years ago.”
