Sunshine Expands Work for Broward County

Starting on April 1, Sunshine’s service to Broward County will expand beyond the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to include 33 public neighborhood libraries, the new more than 670,000-square-foot, 20-story Judicial Center West Building in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and the five-building Broward Sheriff’s Public Safety Complex.

Mike Woodson

Mike Woodson, who was recently named Director of Operations and has been with the company since 2017, says the new project will involve more than 150, mostly part-time, team members, including a full-time onsite project manager at the courthouse. Three local small business sub-contractors have been hired as well to help with the job, which includes providing janitorial, day porter, pressure cleaning, window cleaning and disinfecting.

“We are looking forward to servicing all of these important facilities in our community,” said Woodson. “Our experience with the airport gives us the foundation to handle high-traffic, high-visibility buildings that require our team’s focus on quality, detail and cleanliness.”

Woodson’s credentials to handle this new responsibility include his earning the elite designation of Certified Building Services Executive (CBSE) from the Business Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI). The BSCAI’s CBSE designation is the most prestigious symbol of excellence in the building service contracting industry. He holds a number of additional industry, safety and green cleaning training certifications and designations. He also has more than 20 years of experience in custodian services as well as a strong background in management, sales, operations, and quality control/assurance.
